Laser Cutting Service

What is Laser Cutting?

Laser cutting is term used to describe one method of cutting different materials using a laser beam as the cutting source. The laser beam is focused on the surface of the material, and sufficient power is applied to vaporise the material to be removed. The method of using a laser to cut material results in a high degree of accuracy with minimal material removed to perform the cut. Unlike some alternative industrial cutting methods, laser cutting is well suited to complex curves. Laser speed and power can be adjusted depending on the material being cut to provide maximum accuracy. Not all materials are suited to laser cutting however a wide range can be accommodated.

How can I use your Laser Cutting service for my job?

We encourage you to reach out to us with your ideas at an early stage to determine if Laser Cutting is the right solution for your application. Some considerations when determining suitability are:
– material to be cut
– thickness of the material you wish us to cut
– size of both base material, and final cut pieces.

What materials can be laser cut?

Laser Cutting is suitable for a wide range of materials, but not every one is suitable. Some materials that are suitable are:
– wood (both solid timber, and plywoods)
– plastic (specifically engineered plastics designed for laser cutting provide excellent results)
– foam
– cardboard and paper

How to send us your cutting requirements.

The cutting path the laser takes is defined in common CAD and graphics software programs. Some examples of these are AutoCad, CorelDraw, and Adobe Illustrator. Once you have created your graphic, defining the cutting path, you can export that to one of several formats that our lasers can accept. When you are in the design process, we can advise what file formats our lasers accept, and provide guidance on producing the files we require.
